Another new venue for the Active…..the Lockgate Café located halfway between Tarporley and Beeston.

The route takes us out through Frodsham and up the Ridgeway after which bar a couple of lumps around Kelsall and Beeston Castle it is essentially downhill or flat all the way to the coffee stop. On leaving the café the legs will need to wake up quickly – we have a couple of hundred metres to ease ourselves in before the road tilts up for half a mile peaking at 7% – so don’t be too tempted by the “full English” good though it looks! After this we bypass Bunbury before heading cross country to Winsford where the Weaver is crossed and the route continues on to Davenham, Lostock Gralam, Pickmere, Arley and “the Thorn”.

At 65miles and 2,488ft of ascent this is the Active “stretch” ride for August.

We typically average between 14mph and 16mph and we would like to ask riders to be respectful of this for your own safety and the safety of the group. Suitable for road bikes only.

You can view details of the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/40120819

Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.

We meet at the Mulberry Tree, Stockton Heath, WA4 2AF and leave at 8:30AM prompt. Please aim to be at the meeting point by 08:20AM
Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.

General Rules:
– Please keep pavements clear at meeting points, be respectful of pedestrians.
– Riders must ride maximum two abreast – not four! – and on the left hand side of the road – safety first!
– We generally ride as a single group, unless we have 12 or more riders when we would split into 2 groups (assuming we have enough ride leaders to accommodate this)
– Riders must have someone they can phone in case of emergencies and mechanical failure – it is not the responsibility of the leaders to fix a bike – but they will help if they can.
