A last chance for those Active (and other) riders doing the LCL in two weeks time to have a longer ride and get some miles under their belt….

We head out through Frodsham and up Commonside (the only real climb of the day) before heading south via Kelsall, Waverton and Saighton to our first café stop – Cleopatra’s in Holt. On leaving Holt we follow the River Dee south to Bangor-on -Dee, the southern most point of the route. We turn East here before heading North to start the run home via Bickerton, Peckforton, Beeston, Bunbury and up to Whitegate for our second café stop before the final pull back to Stockton Heath.

Not a standard Active day out! At 85miles and 3,000ft of (rolling) ascent it is about 15% short of the long LCL route by each measure so ideal preparation.

PLEASE:

  • Note earlier start time of 08.00AM.
  • Ensure you bring sufficient food to keep you going between stops

We are aiming to average between 15mph and 16mph on this ride and we would like to ask riders to be respectful of this for your own safety and the safety of the group. Suitable for road bikes only.

You can view details of the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39501387

Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.

We meet at the Mulberry Tree, Stockton Heath, WA4 2AF and leave at 8:00AM prompt. Please aim to be at the meeting point by 07.50AM
Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.

General Rules:
– Please keep pavements clear at meeting points, be respectful of pedestrians.
– Riders must ride maximum two abreast – not four! – and on the left hand side of the road – safety first!
– We generally ride as a single group, unless we have 12 or more riders when we would split into 2 groups (assuming we have enough ride leaders to accommodate this)
– Riders must have someone they can phone in case of emergencies and mechanical failure – it is not the responsibility of the leaders to fix a bike – but they will help if they can.
