The Mulberry Tree

Time to stop fannying about!

A change of scenery with more of a proper foray up North to the Delph Dive Centre. A rolling route on “grippier” roads than we get when heading south. One hill on the way out (Appley Bridge) and one on the way back (Beacon Lane).

It is the same route as the Inters (just renamed) and is 55 miles with a total of 1900ft of climbing. So not as long or as much climbing as other routes we have done in recent months.

You can view details of the route here:

We typically ride at an average of between 14mph and 16mph and would like to ask riders to be respectful of this for your own safety and the safety of the group. Suitable for road bikes only.

We meet at the Mulberry Tree, Stockton Heath, WA4 2AF. Please arrive by 08:20 for a prompt 08:30 start. Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube and/or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights. You should also bring enough to drink (minimum one full bottle) and snacks/gels etc appropriate for the length of the ride.

General Rules:

  • Please keep pavements clear at meeting points, be respectful of pedestrians.
  • We generally ride as a single group, unless we have 12 or more riders when we would split into 2 groups (assuming we have enough ride leaders to accommodate this)
  • Riders must ride maximum two abreast – not four! – and on the left hand side of the road – safety first!
  • Riders must have someone they can phone in case of emergencies and mechanical failure – it is not the responsibility of the leaders to fix a bike – but they will help if they can.

New riders are always more than welcome and can enjoy 3 free taster rides with us before joining our club – please bring a guest registration form with you on your first ride. For full details of our guidelines and to get a copy of the guest registration form if you are new to the club, visit our Guidelines page.
