A longer run out for those who fancy the distance at a good active pace of 15/16mph average – who knows we may even decide to push for the Century….

South via Winsford, Wettenhall and Nantwich to the Hack Green (not so) Secret Nuclear Bunker for a taste of cold war nostalgia before turning west to Wrenbury, No Man’s Heath and Malpas. From Malpas we head north passing to the south of Carden Park and on to Tattenhall, Beeston, Tarporley and Cotebrook where we have a short gratuitous detour for a mile or so of climbing and then home via Hatchmere and Frodsham.

The first half of the route is generally flat and the second perhaps a bit more rolling. That said, bar the gratuitous detour there are no real climbs but do expect a few draggy sections. Distance not climbing is the challenge today.

The main Café Stop is planned for The Old Fire Station in Malpas which 45miles in is almost bang on halfway. There are “caffeine splash and dash” options at the Venetian Marina on the way out and Delamere Station on the way back – 25miles and 71 miles respectively.

90miles and 3,750ft of ascent.

PLEASE:

  • Note earlier start time of 07.30AM.
  • Ensure you bring sufficient food and liquids to keep you going between stops

We are aiming to average between 15mph and 16mph on this ride and would like to ask riders to be respectful of this for your own safety and the safety of the group. Suitable for road bikes only.

You can view details of the route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39958106

Bikes MUST be in good working order and you MUST have a helmet.  You need to carry a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit and when necessary you should also have lights.

General Rules:
– Please keep pavements clear at meeting points, be respectful of pedestrians.
– Riders must ride maximum two abreast – not four! – and on the left hand side of the road – safety first!
– We generally ride as a single group, unless we have 12 or more riders when we would split into 2 groups (assuming we have enough ride leaders to accommodate this)
– Riders must have someone they can phone in case of emergencies and mechanical failure – it is not the responsibility of the leaders to fix a bike – but they will help if they can.
